A resurgent Medvedev secured his first trophy for 882 days with a win over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a ex- number one, has experienced a difficult period, winning just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and finally separating with long-time trainer his previous coach.

Presently collaborating with his coach and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden title since the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hardcourt since that period of that year.

The win also means Medvedev has secured twenty-one championships at twenty-one various competitions.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a trophy is really nice," commented ranked player the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I got when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in Halle previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving approach and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete aggressively, backed up by an improved serve.

The champion recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, securing 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his first professional title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent defended four early break points in a close third set before the Russian won the break to 15 to secure the win.

Suitably, the winner earned the win with a rally at the net, with Moutet incapable to manage a shot after a lengthy match.
