The European Union could “respond swiftly and decisively” in response to what it calls “unjustified” travel bans imposed by the United States against five Europeans working on combating digital hatred and disinformation, an EU official stated.

European leaders such as Emmanuel Macron charged Washington of “bullying and threats”, after the visa restrictions were placed on figures that were central to efforts to introduce legislation regulating American tech companies.
“For far too long, ideologues in Europe have led organised efforts to coerce US companies to punish US perspectives they disagree with,” wrote the US secretary of state online. “This government will not stand for these egregious acts of extraterritorial censorship.”
